The Bandeja · No. 1

FRI, OCT 30, 2026 · 3 MIN READ

Good morning, and happy Friday.

Padel now has more than 40 million players worldwide, Americans are under 3% of them, and a British court has officially ruled the sound of the sport a nuisance. We see nothing but upside.

Welcome to The Bandeja, the Friday edition of American Padel. Three minutes, zero paywalls, written from Miami, the American capital of padel. Let's get started.

America's 1,000th padel court opened in April at the Thesis Hotel in Coral Gables. Of course it was in Miami, and of course it was at a hotel.

The global federation says padel now drives €8.6 billion in GDP, which is still less than your club charges for a Saturday at 9am.

Headlines

U.S. padel crossed a million players last year, while pickleball has 24.3 million. They have the numbers. Padel has better outfits.

Britain loves padel. Its neighbors hate the sound, which one called "like a rifle shot every time the ball is hit." A court has ruled one club near Birmingham a statutory nuisance, and it is now pricing a £65,000 noise barrier. Luxury sport, luxury soundproofing.

The Pro Padel League, North America's pro team league, crowns its champions in Miami December 3 to 6 at the James L. Knight Center, and the final airs on CNBC. Get tickets before your fourth does.

Spain's Marta Ortega became the women's world No. 1 at 22 while she was in medical school. You are considering canceling your morning game because the walls are wet.

Deal Flow

FUNDING UK operator Soul Padel raised £3.6 million at a £30 million valuation from three family offices. It runs four clubs, so that is £7.5 million of valuation per club. Miami operators, take notes, then take meetings.

EXPANSION Padel Haus opened its first Colorado club in Denver with Dallas next, and Epic Padel opened eight indoor courts in Milwaukee. The Sun Belt monopoly on glass boxes is over.

The Tour

THIS WEEKEND The Kuwait Major, a top tier event on Premier Padel, the sport's pro world tour, has its finals Saturday. The last time the pros played Kuwait, at the World Cup Pairs in November 2025, Chingotto and Galán beat Coello and Tapia in the final after losing the first set, and Ari Sánchez won the women's title with Paula Josemaría. There is no rematch this time: Galán is injured, and he and Chingotto pulled out of the tournament.

Who they are: Spain's Arturo Coello and Argentina's Agustín Tapia are the world's No. 1 pair. They have won four straight titles and 12 this year, and lead Galán and Chingotto by 2,840 points in the 2026 race. That is not a lead, that is a gated community. Today they play Libaak and Alfonso in the semifinals.

Spain's Ari Sánchez, 29, won her 58th career title in Milan, tying the all time record. She and Andrea Ustero are No. 2 in this year's women's race. One more and the record is hers alone.
